Tutor Wanted – SEN/SEMH Specialist (Didcot, Oxfordshire)
Subjects: English & Maths (Primary and/or Secondary)
Location: Didcot – Face-to-Face
Rate: £20–£30 per hour (dependent on experience)
Start Date: ASAP

Are you an experienced tutor or educator with a passion for supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges?

We’re looking for a skilled and compassionate 1:1 Tutor in Didcot to work with students who may present with ASD, ADHD, EBSA, anxiety, low confidence, and other additional needs. This role involves delivering tailored Maths and English sessions to help learners build confidence, re-engage with education, and make academic progress.

About the Role:

You’ll be providing individualised tuition in English and Maths to students who are currently out of school or on reduced timetables. Many of these learners require a patient, trauma-informed approach to build trust and support emotional regulation as well as academic development.

Requirements:

  • Experience supporting students with SEN/SEMH, including ASD, ADHD, and EBSA.

  • Ability to assess, plan, and deliver a bespoke scheme of work based on individual needs.

  • Confident teaching Maths and English at either primary or secondary level.

  • A nurturing, consistent, and flexible approach.

  • Strong communication skills and an understanding of safeguarding responsibilities.

Ideal Candidate:

  • A qualified teacher, experienced tutor, or HLTA with a minimum of 2–3 years’ experience.

  • Comfortable working independently and liaising with parents/carers and local authorities.

  • Able to adapt teaching strategies to meet diverse learning styles.

Pay:

  • £20–£30 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
