Job description

Job Title: Outreach Tutor

Job Type:

Temporary, Part-Time

Job Duties:

  • Deliver engaging English and Maths GCSE outreach sessions to students in various community settings.
  • Develop tailored lesson plans and educational materials to meet the specific needs of individual learners.
  • Provide one-on-one support and guidance to help students improve their English and Maths skills.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, adjusting teaching methods as necessary to ensure learning outcomes are achieved.
  • Collaborate with other educators and stakeholders to create a supportive learning environment for students.

Required Qualifications:

  • A relevant teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS).
  • Demonstrated experience in teaching English and Maths at GCSE level.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire students to reach their full potential.

Education:

A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field.

Experience:

Proven experience in tutoring or teaching English and Maths at the GCSE level.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong understanding of the GCSE curriculum for English and Maths.
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
  • Organisational skills and the ability to plan and deliver effective lessons.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Additional qualifications in Special Education Needs (SEN) or teaching English as a Second Language (ESL).

Working Conditions:

  • Part-time hours, with flexibility in scheduling sessions.
  • Work involves travel to different community locations (homes, local libraries and schools).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
