Trainee Teaching Assistant

Location: Abergavenny

Pay: £77 – £82 per day.

Start Date: October 9th.

Contract Duration: Until July 2024.

Monday to Friday, 8:30 am - 3:30 pm.

Teaching Personnel are currently working alongside a secondary School in Abergavenny. The ages of the pupils range from 11-16 years of age. The school are looking for a motivated individual to become a part of the school as a Trainee Teaching Assistant.

Within the school environment you may be dealing with children with additional learning needs. This may include ASD, ADHD, BESD and SEMH.

Teaching Assistants work closely with children either in a 1:1 or as a part of smaller groups. If you enjoy working with children and seeing the progression they make this is the perfect role for you. Although, teaching assistant can be a challenging position at times this is an extremely fulfilling role to work in.

As a Trainee Teaching Assistant, you will be working in school alongside the lead teacher. The school will provide on-site training, and Teaching Personnel offers a range of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) courses to support your ongoing professional growth.

Responsibilities of a Teaching Assistant:

  • Prepare learning materials and support the teacher.
  • Create a friendly welcoming environment where the pupils can thrive.
  • You should be reliable.
  • Able to build relationships with pupils and make them feel comfortable.
  • Take part in training and other activities offered by the school.
  • Help children understand daily activities and develop understanding.

Requirements:

  • Enhanced DBS clearance, registered on the update service (or willingness to apply).
  • EWC registration (or willingness to apply).
  • Ability to provide 2 recent references.
  • Right to work in the UK, ensuring compliance with legal regulations.
  • Safeguarding Level 2 (provided free of charge by Teaching Personnel)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
