Teaching assistant - Walthamstow

Job description

A secondary special needs school are currently in need of an experienced teaching assistant who has a passion for supporting students with autism and challenging behaviour. As a teaching assistant you will be supporting a KS4 pupil on a 1:1 basis and implement strategies that help maintain a learning environment that is safe for the pupil to excel in.

The KS4 pupil is at the high functioning end of the autistic spectrum and does require physical intervention; those with team teach training will be well suited for this role; however this training is not an immediate requirement.

Ideal attributes:

  • Training - PECS, Makaton, Team Teach, Autism Awareness
  • Looking to pursue a career in education and has a desire for making a positive impact in their learning
  • Minimum of 4 months experience supporting pupils with autism and challenging behaviour on a 1:1 basis
