We are looking for a candidate with an understanding of Speech and Language development to work within our fantastic SEN school in Bolton.
The students at the school have a range of additional needs such as Autism, Downs Syndrome and Cerebral Palsy which in turn has caused delays in their speech and language development.
Many of the students use or recognise sign language or makaton to communicate their feelings however need further support in communicating verbally.
Your role will be to work within classrooms as a support worker, assisting with the students day to day activities and encouraging them to understand, recognise and replicate verbal communications.
For this role ideally you will:
- Have an understanding of Early learning and Phonics
- Patience to break down communication barriers and persevere with development
- Understanding or experience of Special Needs
- Be able to work Monday to Friday 8.30am-3.30pm
- Have a Child workforce DBS registered to the update service
We are open to receiving applications from candidates with other relevant experience which may be transferred to this type of role.
The role is initially available on a fixed term contract with potential to become permanent for an outstanding candidate.
