As a Teaching Assistant, you will be required to establish good relationships with pupils and act as a positive role model, responding appropriately to individual needs. You will be confident attending to pupils' needs, implementing personal development programmes which focus on social, health, physical and welfare matters in addition to academic achievement.

Key Duties:

  • Prepare relevant resources
  • Be flexible in response to need across every key stage
  • Work with the teacher to ensure that progress is clearly recorded
  • Develop knowledge, skills and understanding of requirements for effective support in an SEN, SEMH setting and utilise these to provide appropriate support for pupils

You will be working with young people at risk of reaching crisis, who may display challenging behaviours and can be physically or verbally aggressive towards peers and staff members. Therefore, you may also be required to deal with pupils who require physical intervention, using such methods as Team Teach, under the direction of the Head Teacher.
