Teaching Assistant Required in Wirral SEN School

Do you hold a level 2 Teaching Assistant Qualification or similar? Do you have experience working with people with moderate to severe learning difficulties?

We're looking for someone to support pupils with autism as well as Complex Learning Difficulties. You will be working with a dedicated and dynamic team to help support pupils access to teaching and learning. You will be providing class, small group work and one to one support to encourage and develop skills so children can achieve full participation in class activities.

Our client school is an over-subscribed community day school which caters currently for children aged 11-19 years. We are seeking a friendly and caring person who is able to establish positive working relationships with children and adults. You will have achieved a recognised teaching assistant qualification at Level 2 or higher. An interest or knowledge of children with autism would be advantageous.

Your responsibilities will include:
*To encourage pupils to join in with all activities and to take a full and active part in school life.
*To support and care for the child in their toileting needs.
*To prepare, modify and adapt resources and learning materials for the pupil as agreed with the class teacher and other professionals.
*To assist in resolving any behavioural, social and emotional difficulties which may arise.
*To encourage the pupil to develop a positive self image, and to develop confidence in their abilities and communication with others.

Person Specification:
*Significant experience of supporting children or adults with special educational needs
*Experience of supporting people with personal care including feeding, changing and toileting.
