Teaching Assistant required for SEN School in Croydon

A Teaching Assistant is required for an SEN School located in Croydon. The school specialises in a mixture of complex needs, such as Autism, SEMH, and MLD for Primary and Secondary aged pupils. The school population is 50 pupils in total, with approximately 7 pupils per class.

As an assistant you will be required to work on a one to one basis with a pupil, establishing a level of trust with them in order to support them, both academically and emotionally. There will be instances where you will have to engage in group support with pupils, however, there will be a teacher and other teaching assistants in every class.

You must be available full time from September.

The school day starts at 8:45am and finishes at 3:20pm. The pay rate starts at £60 a day.

In order to be considered for the role you will be required to have the following:

  • A naturally caring and supportive nature.
  • Experience working with children, particularly supporting primary or secondary children with SEN.
  • Immediate, full time, availability.
  • A DBS on the updated service, or be willing to complete one asap.
  • Have completed training relevant to this position (first aid, moving and handling, safeguarding, Makaton, PECS is desirable but not essential).
  • Can provide excellent references from previous employment.
