Teaching assistant (moving and handling) - Rochdale

The role is full time for teaching assistant who has experience with moving and handling and is initially a temporary position from September 2019 - July 2019. However, there may be there an opportunity for permanent dependent on the needs of the school. A special school situated close to the centre of Rochdale is looking to appoint an experienced moving and handling teaching assistant. The school currently has 253 pupils on roll and caters for pupils with special needs and disabilities (SEND) who are aged 11-19. The school was recently graded as 'good' by OFSTED in its most recent 2016 inspection. This role will involve working in close collaboration with a classroom teacher to support post 16 pupils with severe learning difficulties in achieving their optimal potential.

The majority of pupils within the KS3 require PEG feeding and some have tracheostomies, therefore the ideal teaching assistant would have relevant training

Because this is such a specialised role, to be considered for this position you must;

• Have previous experience working with individuals with special educational needs
• Have previously undergone moving and handling training
• Have a passion for assisting individuals with special educational needs
• Have prior experience working with individuals with complex medical needs
