Are you looking to start your career in education and need experience?

The School

This school supports young students with complex learning difficulties and/or autism spectrum disorder. Staff work closely with parents and guardians to agree achievements for each child to work towards, based on their needs and abilities. This helps to create a fun yet challenging environment and is centred around the progression of each pupil.
The school is easily accessible by car via Radcliffe or Farnworth and simple to find on the 524 bus route.

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the students in the classroom supporting them on a 1:1 or 2:1 basis depending on their specific needs. You will ensure their interaction and engagement in lessons and help them will explanations/ understanding where necessary. Some students may need further assistance in terms of behaviour support and personal care.
School days run from 8.30am-3.30pm Monday to Friday and you will be paid an hourly rate of £9.50 for 6 hours of lessons.

Please be aware roles through Teaching Personnel are recruited on a supply/temp basis however our schools often require long term and even permanent support.

You

As you are working with children who have special educational needs, your approach to them must be caring, patient and understanding, creating a safe and non-judgemental environment to enhance their development.
Any candidates with knowledge of BSL/ Makaton/ PECS/ Autism Awareness or other relevant training would be ideal but not obligatory.

This is a great opportunity for those looking to gain classroom experience due to wanting to pursue a career in teaching, or even if you enjoy supporting children. We consider all experience both professional and personal and actively support your journey into education.

Please be aware all candidates MUST have an enhanced, child only DBS which is registered to the update service, or be willing to obtain one through Teaching Personnel.
