Job Description:

In the Teaching Assistant role you will be expected to support pupils 1:1 or in small groups to help them with their academic work. This could be within the classroom supporting the classroom teacher or in the form of intervention groups where you will help pupils outside the classroom to help raise attainment levels in Maths and English. You will also support children with their reading in guided reading session to help raise their reading levels. Alongside academic support you will need to encourage positive behaviour in and outside the classroom by being a role model to the pupils and building a strong rapport. Additionally, you will need to create resources to aid pupils in their academic work and create display boards to showcase high quality work.

The schools caters for around 200 pupils aged between 4 and 11 years old with 35% of pupils being identified as having additional learning needs. In the schools latest inspection ESTYN graded the school ‘Good’ in all inspection areas including; standards, wellbeing and attitudes towards learning; teaching and learning experiences; care, support and guidance; leadership and management. ESTYN commented that although most pupils enter the school with lower-than-expected levels of skills and understanding for their age, nearly all make good progress during their time at school.
