Teaching Personnel have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Learning Support Assistant at a SEN school in Totton, Southampton. They are the first school in Hampshire to receive an Autism-friendly award from the National Autistic Society.

This will be a full-time position with the opportunity to be a permanent position for the right person. The role will be working with children with social, emotional and communication needs and young people with autism at a secondary age.

You will have the opportunity to complete the following CPD before starting:

1.         Safeguarding

2.         Prevent Duty

3.         Female Genital Mutilation

Following this training you will have the opportunity to also complete Team Teach (behaviour management) training.

You will need to be:

• Be willing to work towards or be Level 3 Teaching Assistant Award or equivalent.
• Have experience of working and supporting children with Autism and associated needs or have a good level of transferable skills from another sector.
• Able to work as part of a supportive and experienced team
• An excellent communicator
• Someone who can think outside of the box
• Have a resilient personality

Responsibilities of the role involve:

• Helping pupils catch up with their education, many pupils have missed alot of school in the past
• Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis where necessary
• Creating a positive environment for children and staff
• Managing challenging behaviours of pupils
• Working alongside other staff to achieve the best outcomes for pupils

Ideally you will have experience supporting children or adults with SEN or Mental Health Needs.
