Teaching Assistant

Teaching Assistant Role:

  • Provide 1:1 and group support for children who need additional help
  • Reading and Writing groups to raise attainment levels
  • Intervention groups for Maths and English to increase attainment levels
  • Work under the guidance of the classroom teacher to support children and control behaviour in the classroom
  • Ensure COVID guidelines are followed
  • Creating resources for lessons
  • Social and emotional support
  • Encourage positive behaviour in and around the school
  • Earn GBP61.20-GBP65 per day, above National Living Wage

The School:

  • This school is a values based school situated in Cwmbran
  • Rated ‘Good’ and ‘Excellent’ in all inspection areas by ESTYN
  • A vision of creating children who are ambitious and capable learners and are healthy, confident and independent individuals
  • “Pupils wellbeing and attitudes towards learning are strong” ESTYN
  • This school is currently a pioneer school and is working with the Welsh Government and other schools to take forward developments relating to health and wellbeing
  • “Nearly all pupils behave very well in lessons and at break times” ESTYN

Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience working with children is desirable but not essential
  • Have a passion for wanting to make a positive difference in children’s lives
  • An energetic person who can be personable and enthusiastic while working as a Teaching Assistant
  • Have the ability to support small groups and children and on 1:1 basis
  • Candidates with a ‘can do’ attitude willing to take on a challenge

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
