Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with a SEN department in a Middlesbrough Secondary School who are seeking to appoint a teaching assistant on a full time basis, commencing from September 2019 working with students with Autism.
The role will involve working on a 1:1 basis with pupils from Key Stage 3 to Key Stage 4 who have a variety of difficulties ranging from Autism to behavioural difficulties, moderate to severe; many of the students also have sensory impairments and will exhibit challenging behaviour because of this. The students are in need of extra support and guidance primarily with their English and Maths. The main aspect of the role will be helping the children to engage with their learning, and encouraging personal and social development whilst managing challenging behaviour in lesson time. You will be expected to monitor children’s academic and personal progress within lessons, and you will have regular meetings with the class teacher to discuss this.
Ideally, the candidate will have experience working with SEN; however the client school welcomes candidates with backgrounds in education, youth/social work, counselling and graduates. You will be passionate about improving the lives of young people and have a strong desire to work with SEND.
Registering with Teaching Personnel will also provide you with access to unique CPD opportunities to increase your qualifications and knowledge of the field, for example we have an upcoming Team Teach training course which will highly benefit you in this role.
Teaching Personnel can offer support assistant’s competitive pay rates of up to GBP75 per day, the position will be held on a temporary basis until at least the spring term; for the right candidate longer term rates can be negotiated on your behalf. Teaching Personnel work with a large number of secondary schools who have SEN department within the school across the Teesside area, if you are interested in registering to work through Teaching Personnel, to gain full time or part time work or to gain SEN experience please call us today for a confidential chat to hear more on 0191 223 5074 and ask for Kayla.
