Learning Support Assistant (Sports-Focused)
Location: Liverpool
Contract: Full-Time, Permanent
Start Date: Immediate / As Soon As Possible
Are you passionate about sports and driven to make a real impact in the lives of young people? We’re looking for a dynamic Learning Support Assistant to join an Alternative Provision school in Liverpool, supporting secondary-aged students on a 1:1 basis who have struggled in mainstream education.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a coaching background or a strong interest in sport, especially football, who wants to use their skills to motivate, inspire, and support students in both their academic and personal development.
What You’ll Be Doing:

Providing dedicated 1:1 support to students, helping them re-engage with learning and build confidence.

Using sport—particularly football—as a vehicle to build trust, improve focus, and encourage positive behaviour.

Supporting students with additional needs (such as ADHD) and challenging behaviour using personalised strategies.

Encouraging social, emotional, and academic growth through consistent, hands-on support.

Creating a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment where students feel valued and understood.
What We’re Looking For:

A sports enthusiast or coach who thrives on using physical activity as a way to connect with and inspire young people.

Someone who is resilient, patient, and skilled at managing behaviour in a calm, positive manner.

A natural relationship-builder who can engage even the most disengaged students.

Experience working with young people in alternative provision, SEN, or youth support is highly beneficial.
Ideal Skills & Experience:
-
Previous work in a school, youth work, or coaching role (particularly with secondary-age students).

A strong understanding of how to support students with additional needs and emotional/behavioural challenges.
-
Creativity, initiative, and a team-player attitude.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
