Reception Teaching Assistant to support child with global delay
Westminster
Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting for a Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support to a child in the Reception class with global delay. The child is mostly non-verbal and not quite school ready so will need focused attention from their support staff. The school is keen to find a candidate with substantial experience of working with special educational needs that will be able to hit the ground running to support this child. The school are hoping to find someone to start as soon as possible with a mind to continuing into the next school year if a positive relationship is built with the child.
The school is a fully inclusive two form entry Primary school with a multi-cultural and multilingual community. The school has a happy atmosphere with good student attitudes to learning. Their most recent Ofsted inspection last year confirmed they continue to be ‘Good’.
The school aims to support all pupils to have mutual respect, self-confidence, and self-discipline. They have an emphasis on supporting parallel development of children, developing them not just academically but also personally, socially, and emotionally. There is a focus on a creative curriculum where students are encouraged to enjoy activities which enhance their imagination. The school is well resourced with access to different methods for engaging students, with a particular focus on the use of ICT to actively involve students in their learning.
There are high expectations for pupil behaviour and pupils are generally very polite and well behaved around the school. The school has several interventions in place to help tackle any challenging behaviour as part of its SEN team and this has successfully helped improve attitudes to learning and behaviour in school.
Under the guidance of a highly engaged SENCO the school has shown great success at significantly improving attainment for all and pupils from different groups make good progress. Having successfully finalised a new ECHP plan, the school are excited to welcome an additional member of staff to their team.
If you think this school might be the right environment for you, the criteria the school are shortlisting based on include:
- Experience of working with children with SEN
- Experience of working in an Early Years class environment
- Experience of Makaton or PECS (desirable)
- First Aid Training (desirable)
