Location: Vale of Glamorgan
Start Date: September 2026
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm
Pay: £92.63 per day

The Role

As a Year 4 Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher to support the learning and development of pupils across the curriculum. You will help create a positive and inclusive classroom environment where children feel confident, motivated and ready to learn.

The role will involve supporting pupils both within the classroom and through small-group interventions, helping to reinforce learning objectives and encourage progress. You will also provide tailored support for pupils who require additional assistance, ensuring every child has the opportunity to succeed.

Working as part of a dedicated school team, you will contribute to a nurturing learning environment that promotes positive behaviour, independence and a love of learning.

Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of engaging and interactive lessons.
  • Work with individuals and small groups to strengthen learning and understanding.
  • Assist pupils in developing key literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Provide support for children with Additional Learning Needs (ALN).
  • Encourage positive behaviour and engagement throughout the school day.
  • Help monitor pupil progress and share observations with teaching staff.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, colleagues and families.
  • Promote confidence, resilience and independence in children's learning.
  • Contribute to a safe, inclusive and supportive classroom environment.

About You

We are looking for a Teaching Assistant who:

  • Has experience working with primary-aged children.
  • Is enthusiastic, patient and committed to supporting pupils' development.
  • Can confidently support learners with a variety of needs and abilities.
  • Works well as part of a team and communicates effectively with staff and pupils.
  • Has a genuine passion for education and helping children succeed.
  • Is available to commit to a full-time, long-term position.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you will need:

  • Education Workforce Council (EWC) registration as a Teaching Assistant, or willingness to apply.
  • An Enhanced DBS Certificate registered on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
