Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm
Pay: £92.63 – £95 per day

The Role

Teaching Personnel is looking to recruit a dedicated and enthusiastic Year 5 Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in the Vale of Glamorgan.

This is a long-term opportunity supporting the class teacher in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons while helping pupils develop academically, socially and emotionally. You will play a key role in supporting learning across the curriculum, encouraging confidence, independence and resilience.

Your Responsibilities

  • Support the class teacher in delivering engaging and interactive Year 5 lessons.

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils who require additional guidance.

  • Assist pupils with literacy, numeracy and wider curriculum activities.

  • Help create a positive, inclusive and well-managed classroom environment.

  • Support pupils with a range of learning needs, including those with Additional Learning Needs (ALN).

  • Prepare classroom resources and learning materials.

  • Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to the class teacher.

  • Build positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents where appropriate.

  • Encourage positive behaviour, independence and a growth mindset.

About You

We're looking for someone who is:

  • Passionate about supporting children in Key Stage 2.

  • Patient, caring and enthusiastic.

  • Experienced working with primary-aged children in a school or similar setting.

  • Confident supporting pupils with literacy, numeracy and classroom learning.

  • Able to build positive relationships and encourage pupils to achieve their best.

  • A positive team player with excellent communication skills.

Essential Requirements

To be considered for this role, you will need:

  • An Enhanced DBS Certificate (Child Workforce).

  • Current Education Workforce Council (EWC) registration.

If you don't currently have a DBS or EWC registration, Teaching Personnel can support you with both application processes (fees apply).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
