Job description

Welsh-Speaking Teaching Assistant

Locations: Swansea & Carmarthenshire
Pay: £14.25 per hour
Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm (Monday–Friday, no weekends!)


About the Role

Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting for a Welsh-speaking Teaching Assistant to work across schools in the Swansea and Carmarthenshire areas. This is a fantastic opportunity to support pupils in Welsh-medium and bilingual settings, helping them to thrive academically and socially in a supportive learning environment.

You will work closely with classroom teachers to deliver engaging support, provide one-to-one or small group assistance, and help create a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere.


✅ Key Responsibilities

  • Support pupils in their learning, both individually and in small groups
  • Assist the class teacher with lesson preparation and classroom management
  • Promote the use of the Welsh language in line with school requirements
  • Support pupils with additional learning needs (ALN) where required
  • Encourage positive behaviour and engagement in lessons

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must:

  • Be fluent in Welsh (spoken and written)
  • Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to obtain one)
  • Be registered with the Education Workforce Council (EWC) or willing to register
  • Have relevant experience working with children or young people

⭐ Desired Qualifications & Skills

  • Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant Qualification
  • CACHE Level 2/3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning
  • Diploma in Childcare or Education-related qualification
  • Experience in a school or educational setting
  • A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (highly desirable due to travel between schools)
