Welsh-Speaking Teaching Assistant (September Start)

Locations: Swansea & Carmarthenshire
Pay: £14.25 per hour
Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm (No weekends!)
Start Date: September 2026


About the Role

Teaching Personnel is recruiting Welsh-speaking Teaching Assistants to begin work from September 2026 across a variety of primary and secondary schools in Swansea and Carmarthenshire.

This is an excellent opportunity to secure a role for the new academic year, supporting pupils through the medium of Welsh while contributing to a positive and engaging learning environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support teachers in delivering high-quality lessons
  • Work with pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
  • Assist students with additional learning needs
  • Encourage and promote Welsh language use in the classroom
  • Help maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
  • Support classroom behaviour and engagement

Requirements

✅ Fluent Welsh speaker (essential)
✅ Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willing to obtain one)
✅ Registered with the Education Workforce Council (EWC) or willing to register
✅ Passionate about supporting children’s learning and development


Desired Qualifications & Experience

  • Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification
  • CACHE Level 2/3 Supporting Teaching & Learning
  • Relevant degree (e.g. Education, Childhood Studies)
  • Previous experience working with children or in a school setting
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (desirable)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
