Job description

An Ofsted-rated Outstanding special school in the heart of North Dorset, is looking for caring, committed and enthusiastic Teaching Assistants to join a vibrant and supportive team.

About Us:

A thriving, well-resourced community special school catering to children aged 2–19 with a wide range of needs, including:

  • Moderate to profound learning difficulties (MLD, SLD, PMLD)

  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)

  • Complex medical, sensory, and communication needs

With specialist classrooms, sensory rooms, soft play, college provision, and real-life skills areas, we provide an enriching and inclusive learning environment tailored to each individual.

About the Role:

As a Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Work closely with teaching staff and therapists to support pupils’ learning and development

  • Provide 1:1 and group support, both in the classroom and around the school

  • Help deliver personalised learning plans linked to each student’s EHCP

  • Promote communication, independence, life skills and confidence

  • Foster a calm, positive and respectful environment where students feel safe and valued

About You:

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Is patient, resilient, and genuinely passionate about inclusive education

  • Can work flexibly as part of a team, with a good sense of humour

  • Has experience with children or young people, especially those with additional needs

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
