Job description

SEN Teaching Assistant – Part-Time (Somerset)

This welcoming specialist provision supports learners aged 11–19 with a wide range of needs including PMLD, SLD, MLD, autism, visual impairments and complex conditions.

The ethos centres on preparing young people for life beyond education through practical and personalised learning, promoting independence at every stage.

 

The Role
You will support students across secondary and further education stages, helping them access learning, develop independence and build essential life skills in a structured and encouraging environment.

 

Working Hours

  • 8.40am – 3.30pm
  • Part-time, term-time only

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with classroom activities and tailored interventions
  • Support communication and sensory needs
  • Encourage positive engagement and independence
  • Work closely with teaching staff and specialists

 

Requirements

  • Minimum 6 months’ childcare experience
  • Experience with SEN learners is highly desirable
  • Patient, empathetic and adaptable approach

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
