Teaching Assistant (Full-Time, Immediate Start)

The Opportunity

A rewarding opportunity to join a highly regarded specialist school in Yeovil, known for its warm, inclusive environment and dedicated staff team.

The school provides tailored support for pupils aged 4 to 16 with a range of Special Educational Needs (SEN), including autism, moderate to severe learning difficulties, communication needs and associated behavioural challenges.

Staff are committed to creating a safe, structured setting where every child is supported to reach their full potential.

 

Role Overview

As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting pupils both individually and in small groups.

You will help deliver engaging learning activities, adapt tasks to meet individual needs and encourage pupils to build confidence and independence.

The role may also involve supporting personal care, communication development and positive behaviour strategies, ensuring pupils can access learning in a supportive and consistent environment.

 

Working Hours & Pay

This is a full-time position with an immediate start. Working hours are 8.30am to 3.45pm, with some varied end times depending on school needs.

The role offers a competitive rate of £14.25 per hour and provides valuable long-term experience within a specialist setting.

 

What We’re Looking For

We are seeking individuals with a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.

Previous experience working with children, particularly those with SEN, is highly desirable. You should be patient, adaptable and able to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
