Are you passionate about working with young people, particularly those who have become disengaged from education or may struggle socially and emotionally?

Our client  primary school in Skelmersdale are seeking a Teaching Assistants to support the needs of their students with Autism, Social, Emotional and Mental Health Difficulties, ADHD and associated learning / behavioural difficulties, in a primary setting.

We are looking for a hardworking, resilient and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant, who has a desire to work with children who have severe challenging behaviour. Working with these young people can often be very challenging and won’t be a ‘walk in the park,’ but you know that, and you have the emotional resilience to manage challenging behaviour, that’s why you’re still reading this, because you know you can make a real difference to pupils who would really benefit from your support… and you love a challenge! You will be upbeat, approachable and creative, with the ability to build rapport quickly in order to engage the young people in the classroom.

The school will consider candidates with varying experience including sports coaching, youth work, Alternative provisions, PRU’s, SEN Schools etc but you must be confident in working alongside young people who can express challenging behaviours and must be able to show evidence as to where you have gained this experience.

You must have good literacy and numeracy skills and excellent communication skills as the school pride themselves on an exciting and stimulating curriculum that engages all children and allows them to meet the individual needs of each and every child. This is a caring school where each child is valued as an individual and their achievements, big or small, are recognised and celebrated. All staff work hard to provide the best for the children, their families and the community.

Working hours will be between 8:30 – 3:30pm, 5 days per week and your role will be on a temp-perm basis, meaning that following a probationary period, provided you work hard and make a positive impact on the class, you will become a permanent member of staff!

You will ideally be available immediately or for a January start.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
