Teaching Assistant | Shaftesbury | Full-Time

We are looking for an experienced and proactive Teaching Assistant to join a specialist education setting in Shaftesbury, working full-time from October 2026.

This is an opportunity for someone who already has experience supporting children or young people with SEND and understands the importance of providing structure, encouragement and individualised support.

We need somebody confident enough to hit the ground running and make a positive contribution from their first day.

Your Day-to-Day Role

• Supporting pupils individually and in small groups.
• Encouraging participation in classroom activities and learning.
• Helping young people develop greater confidence and independence.
• Adapting your approach to suit different needs and learning styles.
• Reinforcing routines, expectations and positive behaviour.
• Providing calm and appropriate support during more challenging moments.
• Communicating effectively with teaching staff and other professionals.
• Contributing towards a safe, supportive and purposeful school environment.

What We Need From You

We are looking for candidates with previous relevant experience, ideally gained within SEND education, alternative provision, specialist schools or a similar support environment.

You may have worked as a Teaching Assistant, SEN TA, Learning Support Assistant, Support Worker or Behaviour Mentor. Whatever your background, you will need to be comfortable supporting pupils with additional needs and able to build professional relationships while maintaining clear boundaries.

You should be patient, dependable, adaptable and resilient, particularly when supporting young people who may require extra reassurance or a different approach to learning.
