This special needs school caters for children between the ages of 2 and 19 with profound and multiple (PMLD), Severe (SLD) or complex learning difficulties. Some children have additional sensory or physical impairments, speech and language disorders or medical needs, others are on the autistic spectrum.

For this position, it is essential you have experience working with young people or adults that have special educational needs. It would be beneficial for you to have experience working in a school setting.

Due to the varying needs and age of the students at this school, we are looking for applicants who have a flexible approach to work. Although rewarding, working with such vulnerable young people can be extremely challenging so we are looking for team players with a great sense of humour.

We currently have a need for full time Teaching Assistants, with opportunities for permanent employment.  

Responsibilities:

  • Providing support within the classroom wherever required
  • Delivering activities on one-to-one or small group basis
  • Ensuring children are engaged
  • Adapting to every individual pupil’s needs
  • Helping with behaviour management of children
  • Creating displays of children’s work

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
