Job Advert: Teaching Assistant (1:1 Support – Complex Care Needs)
Salary: Dependent on experience and qualifications
We are seeking a compassionate, skilled, and dedicated Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a pupil with complex care needs, including a tracheostomy, within a secondary partnership school setting.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide high-quality personal and educational support to a pupil with complex medical needs during the school day

Work closely with the class teacher and wider staff to facilitate the pupil's access to learning
-
Deliver care routines as required, including suctioning and monitoring of the tracheostomy
-
Support with mobility, communication, and personal care as necessary
-
Ensure a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment at all times
-
Maintain effective communication with healthcare professionals, parents/carers, and school staff
Essential Requirements:
-
Up-to-date and valid training in tracheostomy care and emergency procedures
-
Experience supporting children or young people with medical or complex needs in an educational or healthcare setting
-
A calm, patient, and empathetic approach
-
Excellent teamwork and communication skills
-
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
Desirable:
-
Relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (e.g. Level 2 or 3)
-
Additional training in manual handling and PEG feeding
-
Experience working in a secondary school environment

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
