Position: Teaching Assistant – Maternity Cover
Location: Primary School – West Sussex Area
Contract Type: Fixed Term (Maternity Cover)
Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, Term Time Only
Hours: 8:20 am – 3:20 pm (6.5 hours per day)
Pay: Grade 3 – Scale Point 3 (£24,796 pro rata)
Role Overview
Teaching Personnel is working with a welcoming and supportive primary school seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to provide full-time support across the school. This is a maternity cover role, lasting up to 12 months or until the postholder returns. The successful candidate will contribute to a positive and inclusive learning environment, assisting in the delivery of engaging lessons tailored to pupils’ needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Support teaching and learning within classroom and small group settings.
- Provide individual support to pupils with a range of learning needs, including SEN.
- Build strong, positive relationships with pupils and staff.
- Assist in creating and maintaining a safe, stimulating and inclusive learning environment.
- Work collaboratively with teachers and support colleagues to improve pupil outcomes.
Candidate Requirements
- Experience supporting children in a primary school or educational setting.
- Understanding of special educational needs (SEN) and differentiated learning support.
- A patient, proactive and enthusiastic approach to supporting learning.
- A relevant qualification or First Aid training is desirable but not essential.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive school culture and promoting pupil wellbeing.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
