Primary Teaching Assistant – Supply Roles for September
Location: Across County Durham
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Flexible, ongoing supply (full-time and part-time available)

About the Role
Teaching Personnel are seeking enthusiastic, adaptable, and dedicated Primary Teaching Assistants to join our supply pool for the new academic year beginning in September.
You will work across a range of primary schools in County Durham, supporting classes from Early Years through to Key Stage 2. Roles will be matched to your experience, strengths, and availability.
These positions are ideal for:
✅ Qualified Level 2 or Level 3 Primary Teaching Assistants
✅ Experienced primary support staff
✅ Graduates hoping to gain primary classroom experience
✅ Individuals considering a long-term career in primary education
Key Responsibilities
- Support teachers across EYFS, KS1, or KS2 with daily classroom activities.
- Deliver small-group or 1:1 interventions to support progress in reading, writing, maths, and phonics.
- Assist with behaviour management and promote positive learning behaviours.
- Help set up, organise, and maintain a stimulating primary classroom environment.
- Support pupils with additional needs, including SEND or social/emotional support.
- Adapt quickly to different schools, routines, and year groups.
✅ Key Requirements
- Ideally a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (Primary).
- Previous primary school experience is highly desirable.
- A positive, nurturing, and flexible approach.
- Strong communication skills and confidence working with young children.
- An Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply).
- Access to your own vehicle is highly beneficial for travelling between schools.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
