Job Opportunity: Primary Teaching Assistant
Location: Ellesmere Port
Contract Type: Long-Term, Fixed-Term (1 Year Initially, Potential for Permanent Position)
Start Date: January 2025
A highly reputable Multi Academy Trust is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Primary Teaching Assistant to join the staff of one of its outstanding schools in Ellesmere Port. This role offers the chance to work within a supportive and collaborative environment, with a strong commitment to professional development and the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in young learners’ lives.
Role Summary:
The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and pupils, providing support in the classroom to ensure every child has the opportunity to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. This is a long-term role, initially offered on a fixed-term contract of one year, with the potential to transition into a permanent position based on performance and school needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the delivery of engaging and inclusive lessons across the primary curriculum.
- Support individual and small groups of pupils to enhance their learning and development.
- Foster a positive and nurturing learning environment.
- Contribute to the preparation of teaching materials and classroom displays.
- Support the teacher in maintaining accurate records of pupil progress and behavior.
- Promote the school’s values and ethos within the classroom and beyond.
Requirements:
- Qualifications: Minimum of a Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent. A Level 3 qualification is desirable.
- Experience: Prior experience working with primary-aged children in a classroom setting is essential.
- Skills:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
- A proactive and flexible approach to supporting learning needs.
- Competence in behavior management strategies and the ability to handle challenging situations effectively.
- Commitment: A genuine passion for education and a dedication to supporting children’s development.
- Safeguarding: An enhanced DBS check is mandatory. The successful candidate will be expected to uphold the Trust’s safeguarding and child protection policies.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
