Role: Reception Class Teaching Assistant
Location: Cardiff
Start Date: January 2026
End Date: July 2026
Working Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm

Are you seeking an exciting new opportunity within a welcoming and supportive Primary School in Cardiff? Teaching Personnel would love to hear from you!

We are working with a friendly, nurturing school looking to appoint a Reception Class Teaching Assistant to join their team from January 2026. This role involves supporting the class teacher and working closely with young learners to create a positive, engaging and inclusive learning environment. The school prides itself on its warm atmosphere, collaborative staff team and commitment to each child’s development. You will receive ongoing support, regular feedback, and the opportunity to share your own ideas and approaches.

Main Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with classwork and activities in both group and one-to-one settings

  • Assist the teacher with preparing learning materials and classroom resources

  • Help maintain a safe, welcoming and inclusive classroom environment

  • Provide supervision during the school day, including break times

  • Deliver small-group intervention sessions to support early literacy and numeracy skills

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail

  • A genuine passion for supporting children’s learning and development

  • Experience working with children in a professional or personal capacity

Essential Requirements

  • Enhanced Child-Only DBS Certificate (support available through Teaching Personnel)

  • Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC)

  • Ability to provide professional references

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
