Job Title: Learning Support Assistant (LSA)

Location: Cardiff – CF5

Start Date: January 8th

Job Type: Full Time

Pay: £11.85 an hour

Teaching Personnel are currently looking to recruit a LSA to support a class in the CF5 area.

The class requires an individual that has quick reactions and can think on their feet. You will be working in a classroom with young pupils that are full of energy with some that have challenging behaviour. The school are looking for someone to help maintain good behaviour within the classroom and during break times. The successful candidate will be able to implement positive learning and maintain engagement levels of the classroom during learning. You will also be required to support some pupils individually with emotional and behavioural difficulties on a one-to-one basis.

A crucial part of this role is the ability to create and maintain relationships with the pupils as the class needs another role model to improve behaviour and engagement. If you are a personable and nurturing person that has a background in working with children, then you will be an excellent candidate for the role. We encourage individuals with no relevant experience that come from backgrounds in sports, drama, music, and theatre to apply as we have previously had successful candidates come from these fields.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the classroom teacher in implementing individualized education plans for students with challenging behaviour.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students, offering guidance and encouragement to help them engage in classroom activities.
  • Implement behaviour management strategies, following the school’s guidelines, to create a positive and supportive learning atmosphere.
  • Support the physical and emotional needs of students, always ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Collaborate with the teacher and other staff to adapt and modify instructional materials to meet the diverse needs of the students.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation regarding student progress and behaviour.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and guardians, updating them on their child’s progress and challenges.

Qualities:

  • Experience working with children.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with children.
  • Knowledge of behaviour management techniques and special education practices.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

The successful applicant will have a team of dedicated consultants that will provide all the necessary help and support throughout your time in this job. You will also have access to courses to further develop your experience and teaching skills which will help you in your career in education. We also offer a referral scheme bonus that allows you to earn £50 for every teacher / teaching assistant which is a great opportunity to earn some extra cash along the way!

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
