Position: Teaching Assistant with SEND experience

Location: Blackburn, BB2

Start date: January 2024

Contract type: Full-time, temp-perm

An “outstanding” Secondary school in Blackburn requires a Teaching Assistant who has experience supporting pupils with SEND for a position following the Christmas break. This is a full-time post and should the candidate have a successful probationary period, there is a potential for a temp-perm contract.

You will be joining a school who aspires to be the best and achieve the best outcomes for all of their pupils. Staff strive to deliver engaging and motivating learning experiences allowing pupils to feel challenged in achieving their full potential.

We are seeking a Teaching Assistant with the following:

  • Previous experience supporting young people with SEND
  • Commitment and motivation to support pupils with SEND
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Willingness to assist pupils with personal care needs
  • Experience working with young people

Working closely with the class teacher, your responsibilities will include:

  • Supervising and supporting pupils, ensuring their safety and access to the curriculum
  • Promoting inclusion and acceptable of all pupils
  • Attend to the pupils personal needs including social, health and welfare maters
  • Prepare learning and intervention resources
  • Encouraging positive peer interaction and engagement in teacher led activities
  • Provide feedback to pupils and parents/carers
  • Completing paperwork/administration tasks as necessary

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
