About the Role:

We are seeking a caring, enthusiastic, and committed Teaching Assistant to join a Secondary School situated in Barry, Vale of Glamorgan. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers to support pupils’ learning and wellbeing in the classroom. This is a rewarding opportunity to work within a separate area of the school, in a small Hub supporting anxious learners.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Remaining upbeat and encouraging when assisting pupils with basic classroom activities.
  • Assisting the class teacher with lesson preparation and classroom management.
  • Supporting pupils individually and in small groups to access the curriculum.
  • Professionally building nurturing and trusting relationships with students, supporting both their learning and wellbeing.
  • Effectively communicating with young people and teachers whilst proactively helping wherever you’re able.
  • Following safeguarding procedures, ensuring safety of all students.


What we’re looking for:

  • Enthusiastic and positive attitude, with a desire to work with children.
  • Someone reliable and committed to show consistency for the pupils.
  • Good communication skills can follow guidance and use their initiative whenever needed.
  • Previous experience working with children (desirable but not essential)
  • Understands the importance of safeguarding policies and the safety and of children.
  • Holds a fully enhanced DBS certificate (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Has the ability to adapt their interaction for children with ADHD, learning difficulties, and varied learning needs.
