Location: Barry, CF62
Start Date: ASAP
Hours: Part-time, flexible working, Monday – Friday, 8am – 3:30pm
Pay: £90-£95 per day, with potential for a higher rate from April
Teaching Personnel are recruiting for Additional Learning Needs (ALN) Secondary School Teaching Assistant in Barry, Vale of Glamorgan. This role offers a rewarding opportunity to work closely with pupils, teaching staff, and specialist teams to promote inclusion, independence, and positive learning outcomes. Job Overview – Secondary Additional Learning Needs (ALN) Teaching Assistant
- Upbeat and encouraging attitude when assisting pupils with basic classroom activities.
- Ability to build nurturing, trusting relationships with students, supporting both their academic growth and emotional wellbeing.
- Promoting positive behaviour and safe wellbeing.
- Effective communication with young people and teachers.
- Following safeguarding procedures, ensuring the welfare and safety of all students.
- Reporting pupils' progress or concerns and liaising with other School staff to ensure any needs are met.
Requirements
- Previous experience working with children or young people (desired but not required!)
- Enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
- Registration with the Education Workforce Council (or willingness to obtain) – We can help you with this!
- Confidence to engage and maintain pupil’s concentration.
- A proactive, flexible, and reliable approach with strong communication skills, and the ability to engage positively and effectively with students and teachers.
- Understanding of safeguarding policies and a commitment to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of children.
- Patience, calmness, and the ability to adapt to different situations.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
