Teaching assistant - graduate roles
Job description
Are you a new graduate looking to start a career in the classroom? Would you like to gain experience in teaching prior to committing to a PGCE or training programme? Are you passionate about primary education?
Primary schools located across Birmingham are looking for committed psychology/criminology and sports graduates to join their team on a full-time basis as teaching assistants. The role is to work with pupils in KS1 & KS2, identifying individual needs of the students and supporting them with their academic progress.
There are competitive rates of pay, with a minimum of £13.75 an hour. This role would suit a graduate who is interested in utilising their degree whilst gaining hands on experience within an academic setting. Also, for an individual who is considering beginning a career in education.
Roles and responsibility can include:
-being active and engaging around the classroom
-working in small groups or a 1:1 basis
-supporting the class teacher with planning and preparing lessons.
-prior experience working with children is recommended but not essential
-passion for education
-successful applicants will be confident, resilient, and proactive, with a genuine passion to assist young children’s academic and social attainment.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Must have a university degree
- A keen passion for education and learning
- Experience in the classroom/ supporting as a TA is preferred but not essential

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
