Teaching Assistant for SEND: autism, behaviour, ADHD

Teaching Personnel are recruiting teaching assistants to work across Key Stages across Sunderland, we have roles available on a full and part time basis.

The role will involve working on a 1:1 and small group basis with students from Key Stage 1 right up to Key Stage 4; if you have a preferred Key Stage you can express this at application! The successful candidates will be working three days a week in various locations across our fantastic client schools. You will primarily be working with vulnerable students with varying SEND; our schools cater for students with:

  • Autism
  • Downs Syndrome
  • Children in foster care/residential children's homes
  • ADHD

Most students are in need of extra support and guidance primarily with their English, Maths and Science. However some support may be needed across other elements of the curriculum at times. The main element of the role will be helping the children to engage with their learning, and encouraging personal and social development whilst managing challenging behaviour in lesson time. You will be expected to work collaboratively with other members of staff and adapt to the ethos of the schools that you are placed in. This position will enable you to work with and make a difference to the lives of many children with SEND.

Ideally, the candidate will have experience working with challenging behaviour. Our client schools welcome candidates with backgrounds in education, youth/social work, counselling and graduates. You will be passionate about improving the lives of young people, registration with Teaching Personnel will provide you will access to unique CPD opportunities, including an upcoming Team Teach training course which will highly benefit you in this role. You will be supported by a specialist team of SEN recruitment consultants with education backgrounds, who are well placed to enrol you onto your desired courses and into schools that are the best fit for you.

Teaching Personnel can offer teaching assistant's competitive pay rates of up to ÂŁ65 per day! This role will commence as soon as possible; part time roles will consist of three days per week, the days worked may vary but Teaching Personnel can work with you to agree the best days for you.
