Teaching Assistant - Bolton

A Trust in Bolton are currently looking to recruit learning mentors to start immediately after February Half Term. The position is an ongoing position that will involve working 5 days per week between the hours of 8:30am until 3:30pm.

The Trust has 5 specialist schools that provide education for pupils aged 4-16. The specialist schools are alternative provisions that are required to be educated outside of mainstream education. The young people who generally attend these schools are there for a variety of reason such as; Social, Emotional and Mental Health and also young people who display challenging behaviours. The main aim of the setting is to support pupils and integrate them back into a mainstream; however this is not always possibility.

The pupils who attend this setting will often display signs of extreme challenging behaviour so if you have worked in a challenging setting for example: a residential home, pupil referral unit or alternative secure unit. Individuals from residential backgrounds tend to excel in these roles as they have developed an understanding of the effectiveness of a nonsense approach.

Due to the specific needs of the pupils the ideal Teaching Assistant will have:

• High levels of physical and emotional resilience
• An understanding of the importance of effective de-escalation tactics
• Team- Teach training (can be provided)
• An in-depth understanding of crisis prevention tactics
