Teaching Assistant – 1:1 Support (Secondary Age)
Location: Carlisle, Cumbria
Contract: Full-time, Term Time Only

 

We are seeking a dedicated and resilient Teaching Assistant to work 1:1 with a secondary-aged pupil at a specialist education setting in Carlisle, Cumbria.

This role is ideal for someone with strong behaviour management skills and experience supporting pupils with complex needs. You will be providing tailored, consistent support to help the pupil engage with learning, regulate behaviour, and achieve their individual outcomes.

 

The Role:

  • Providing 1:1 support to a secondary-aged pupil
  • Supporting learning, emotional regulation, and behaviour in line with the pupil’s EHCP
  • Implementing behaviour strategies and de-escalation techniques
  • Working closely with teachers, SEN staff, and external professionals
  • Promoting a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment
  • Please note: Full details of the pupil’s EHCP will be shared upon shortlisting.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Has experience supporting children or young people with challenging behaviour
  • Confident, calm, and consistent in managing behaviour
  • Patient, resilient, and able to build positive relationships
  • Experience in SEN, SEMH, or alternative provision is highly desirable
  • Relevant qualifications or transferable experience welcomed

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
