Full-Time 1:1 Teaching Assistant – SEMH Setting
Location: Carlisle
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Full-Time

We are seeking a full-time 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a pupil within a specialist SEMH provision based in Carlisle. The setting supports children and young people who require a highly structured, therapeutic, and relationship-led approach to education.

This role is to start as soon as possible and will involve providing consistent, individualised support to help a pupil engage with learning, regulate emotions, and develop positive behaviours throughout the school day.

The Role:

  • Providing dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with SEMH needs

  • Supporting engagement with learning and daily routines

  • Implementing behaviour support strategies and de-escalation techniques

  • Working closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams

  • Promoting emotional regulation, resilience, and positive relationships

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH or challenging behaviour

  • Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills

  • A calm, consistent, and resilient approach

  • The ability to build positive, trusting relationships

  • Previous experience in an SEN or alternative provision setting (desirable)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
