A primary school in Hillingdon renowned for their investment in staff and National Autistic Society accreditation are looking to appoint qualified teachers with experience or a good understanding of teaching children with autism.

The positions in Hayes, Hillingdon for qualified teachers will give the opportunity to be trained and gain invaluable experience of the education framework for teaching children with SEN and working closely with therapists and specialists in special education.

After the successful completion of a fixed 12 month contract with the school there will be opportunities to go on permanent contract and have access to additional areas of career development.

The role involves teaching small classes of up to 8 children and managing a small team of trained special needs teaching assistants. There are positions across early years to year 6 classes so being flexible and open to working across primary ages is vital.  Children are diagnosed with autism, severe learning needs, associated speech, language and communication difficulties and will have lessons planned based on education healthcare plans (EHCP).

This post is full-time Monday to Friday for a January 2020 start with prior taster days throughout November and December. Being able to fulfil 8:30 – 4:30pm hours daily is essential to being considered for this role.

Positions are currently available in a range of classes:

  • EFL class – Teachers in this class plan 1:1 lessons for children with dev (ABA)  and behaviour/learning programmes 

  • FLP class – Teachers in this class plan 1:1 and small group cross-curricular  learning activities for children developing communication sand independence skills

  • Adapted EYFS and National Curriculum class – Teachers in this class plan 1:1 and small group learning activities with focus on fun, interactive learning to support personal and developmental needs
