Job description

Teaching Personnel are working with a brand new client in the Stockport area who are looking to recruit Teaching Assistants to support children and young adults with ASC, SLD and PMLD.
The school supports mixed aged students who have a mixture of special educational and physical health needs, and can involve challenging behaviour needs. The students follow an alternative curriculum to suit their learning styles and personal needs, with focus on sensory and cognitive development and life skills.
As a Teaching Assistant, your role is predominantly based within the classroom, assisting the students with engagement and understanding of their lessons. Due to the nature of their needs, you may be required to support a group or a specific student on a 1:1 basis, giving a patient and assuring approach at all times when helping them to understand their work. You will also be required to maintain their behaviour, ensuring they are interacting and remain engaged. You may be required to support with moving and handling and personal care depending on the needs of the student(s) you are assigned to.
The hours are from 8.30am to 3.30pm Monday to Friday, however part time hours are available too. The role is on a temporary basis until the end of school year, with potential for long term and permanent contracts.
Ideally applicants will be tactful in regards to emotional support and be adaptable to a number of situations. You should have some experience in working with children or within an education environment; however we are open to experience in other relevant areas. You MUST have a child and adult, enhanced DBS which is registered to the update service, or a willingness to obtain one via Teaching Personnel.
Teaching Personnel is an agency of industry experts who can offer the best advice and opportunities for your career in Education. We offer an 80% reduced rate off training courses which you can use to build your skill set, with courses available such as Team-Teach and Autism Awareness. We pay an hourly rate of £9.50 per hour inclusive of holiday pay and paid weekly through PAYE.
If you think that this role sounds perfect for you, please apply with your CV and a consultant will contact you.
