Are you trained in supporting people with mental health issues and have a passion for supporting young people?
The Role
Teaching Personnel work closely with a number of specialist schools in the South Manchester area which support young people who have various social, emotional and mental health needs. The students can display challenging behaviours, therefore class sizes are small and timetables are varied, to help students to remain engaged and interactive without overwhelming them.
As a school based support worker, you will work within specific classes or with specific students, to help them to maintain their behaviour and provide emotional support where necessary. Many of the students will suffer from mental health issues such as anxiety and depression and often have associated special educational needs such as ADHD or Autism spectrum condition.
You will be required to act as a mentor, ensuring they are fully aware and understanding of the outcomes of the choices they make, and advise them on alternative way to deal with things.
Safeguarding of the pupils is paramount at all times therefore training in de-escalation techniques such as Team-Teach would be ideal and can be provided to registered applicants by Teaching Personnel.
You
