Support Assistant required in mainstream secondary school!
Job description
This vacancy has now expired. Please see similar roles below...
Teaching Personnel are working alongside a mainstream secondary school in Blackpool who are looking for an additional member of staff in their SEN department to support a child who is new to the school and requires some support in the classroom on a 1:1 basis.
The pupil has re-located to the area and suffers with severe ASC which can also cause behavioural difficulties. The school are not certain yet how long the position will be for as it very much depends on the childs progress. They are seeking an experienced Support Assistant who has a background working with children with SEN, inparticular ASC, SEMH and ADHD.
The incoming Support Assistant will be responsible for the welfare of the child alongside supporting them in the classroom. There may also be occassions were you will be required to work on a 1:1 basis outside of the classroom and plan activities for them under the direction of the Head of Department in that particular subject.
If you are interested in this position you must have experience working with children of a similar background and understand that this position is in a mainstream environment, not a specialist SEN school, and you may be required to assist with the general day to day responsibilities in a secondary school.
If you are interested in this role and are available on a full-time basis. Please get in touch ASAP!
All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.
Teaching Personnel is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Full assistance provided.
