Supply Teacher – Alternative Provision 

Location: Across Accrington, Blackburn, Burnley, and Darwen
Contract Type: Flexible Supply Basis
Pay: Competitive – Dependent on Skills and Experience
Start Date: September 
Driving Licence: Strongly preferred due to multiple site locations

Overview:
Alternative Provisions in East Lancashire are seeking adaptable and resilient Supply Teachers to support secondary-aged pupils who are not currently accessing mainstream education. This is a rewarding and varied role, ideal for teachers who are confident in managing behaviour and delivering across a broad curriculum.

The Role:

  • Deliver engaging lessons across a range of general subjects (no subject specialism required).

  • Adapt quickly to new environments and build rapport with students.

  • Manage challenging behaviour effectively, using positive behaviour strategies and de-escalation techniques.

  • Work collaboratively with support staff to ensure a safe and supportive learning environment.

  • Follow school policies and contribute to a consistent, structured educational experience for all learners.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent experience in education settings.

  • Confident teaching across KS3 and KS4.

  • Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.

  • Experience working with pupils with SEMH needs, challenging behaviour, or in Alternative Provision is highly desirable.

  • A full UK driving licence and access to transport is preferred due to the multi-site nature of the role.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
