Sports coach wanted

Support children in Secondary School in Monmouthshire as a Teaching Assistant 

GBP10 per hour

ASAP Start

Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with a secondary school in Monmouthshire to recruit a sports coach to work as a teaching assistant full time ASAP until the end of the year. The headteacher has identified a number of students who will need additional support following the current pandemic. It's essential that the teaching assistant makes the transition back to school as easy as possible whilst promoting learning. In previous years sports coaches of worked particularly well with these types of students as they to have a keen interest in sport. Utilize your skills by taking small groups and engaging in multiple activities with students via the schools reward schemes. 

You will be joining a large support team that excel in driving pupils learning and development. This department play a key role in supporting the pupils with behaviour, special education needs and learning difficulties within the school. The role requires you to work within the mainstream classroom as well as the additional needs hub. 

The ideal sports coach/teaching assistant:

  • Experience with secondary aged children in any capacity (personal, voluntary or professional)
  • Have a good understanding of PE or sporting activities 
  • No qualification necessary 
  • Flexible, calm natured and proactive approach

Requirements:

  • Enhanced DBS on the renewal service - assistance provided 
  • Registration with the education workforce council - assistance provided
  • 2 recent references 

The headteacher is looking for someone to develop and invest in through continuous training and development programs. Some of the very best teaching assistants have had no experience working directly in the school but have had transferable skills from living with siblings, coaching groups or volunteering in workshops. This is the perfect opportunity if you are looking for you first step into education before considering a potential career as a teacher!

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
