Job description

Sports Coach wanted to work as teaching assistant within a primary school in Chepstow! Use all your coaching knowledge and put it into a classroom setting. There will be opportunities to continue your coaching in lucnh time and after school clubs. 

Location: Chepstow NP16 
Position Type: Full-Time (via Teaching Personnel) Monday to Friday (8.30 to 3.00pm)
Start Date:  September 2025 until July 2026

This is a rewarding opportunity to work with pupils who require additional support, helping them engage with education through structure, activity, and positive relationships.

The Role:

  • Supporting students with social, emotional, and behavioural needs in a classroom and outdoor setting.

  • Assisting teachers with lesson delivery, particularly in sports and physical education activities.

  • Promoting a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment.

  • Acting as a positive role model to pupils aged 8–16 with a range of complex behavioural challenges.

The school is your tpical primary school with a specialist resource base which caters for a range od needs (ALN to behaviour) With small class sizes and a highly supportive staff team, the school focuses on building trust, promoting engagement, and supporting pupils to achieve both academically and personally. Many students thrive through physical activity, so a sports coach is the perfect person for this role. Many sport coaches in the past have been succesful as a teaching assistant and the headteacher in this school has invested heavily in them with training. 

Ideal Sports Coach:

  • Background in sports, coaching, or active youth work.

  • Experience working with children or young people, especially in behaviour support roles.

  • Strong communication, resilience, and a team-player attitude.

  • Calm under pressure, patient, and able to build strong, respectful relationships with pupils.
