Job Advert: Sports Coach for Primary Schools

Position: Sports Coach/Teaching Assistant
Location: Burnley
Hours: Flexible, part-time or full-time options available
Salary: £12.90 - £13.50 per hour

About the Role:
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Sports Coach to join our team and inspire primary school children to develop a love for physical activity and sports! As a Sports Coach, you will work with children in a fun and supportive environment, delivering high-energy coaching sessions and helping them build their skills, teamwork, and confidence. This role also entails some General Teaching Assistant responsibilities where you will need to support children within the classroom environment.

Key Responsibilities:

-          Lead engaging and age-appropriate sports and physical education lessons, working alongside the PE National Curriculum for EYFS, KS1 and KS2.

-          Encourage participation in a variety of sports, including football, basketball, athletics, and more.

-          Create a positive and inclusive environment where all children feel supported and motivated.

-          Plan and deliver structured sessions that align with the school’s curriculum.

-          Foster teamwork, discipline, and respect both on and off the field.

-          Work with teachers and school staff to integrate sports into daily school life.

-          Provide progress reports and feedback on students’ development.

-          Provide support to children within a classroom environment and help them make progress with other subject areas.

About You:

-          A passion for sports and working with children.

-          Previous experience coaching or teaching children, preferably in a school or sports setting.

-          A relevant coaching qualification (e.g., Level 1 or 2 in Coaching, or equivalent) is desirable.

-          A Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.

-          Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

-          Ability to inspire and motivate children to be active and reach their full potential.

-          A DBS check will be required (we will assist with this process if necessary).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
