Speech & Language Teaching Assistant

This Secondary School in Cardiff need an LSA to work with a pupil that has speech and language support needs. The school have asked for someone who has the patience to support with communication throughout all subjects. No prior experience is required however having an approachable and resilient personality is paramount. Working with this particular pupil will require excellent written and verbal communication skills while having the ability to break down set work/tasks in to manageable workloads.

The school have recently been praised for their attitude to developing pupils with additional learning support. Within the mainstream school, this school has a specific unit dedicated to learning support and this pupil will be educated between mainstream classes and the unit. The challenges in this role can often be varied but will mainly be to offer support and guidance while aiding the classroom teacher. The school have expressed that at times the pupil may show signs of challenging behaviour due to the Speech and language challenges that have presented themselves to the individual.

Requirements of the Role:

• Patient Manner
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to support and breakdown tasks
• Support with the SENCO/ALNco
• Liaise with family & education plans
