Speech and Language Support
We are looking to recruit multiple committed, understanding SALT Support Assistants to come onboard with us and work alongside encouraging, supportive primary schools in the Tameside area. There are a few long-term plans for these roles to ensure consistency for pupils, therefore it is perfect if you are looking to settle in one school. As it is the beginning of the academic year, the schools are wanting to ensure the appropriate support is in place as soon as possible. This is to provide engaging, purposeful interventions to pupils predominantly across KS1 and EYFS, alongside classroom-based assistance.
Location: Tameside
Job Type: Full-time, 8.30am-3.30pm (long-term opportunity)
Salary: £13.75- £14.50 per hour
Start date: Varied start dates in September
What Do the Roles Entail?:
- Work closely and collaboratively with the Class Teacher and SENCO to implement adaptive learning strategies, following recommendations from external agencies.
- Support with Speech and Language and reading interventions with children of a range of abilities and needs, utilising guidance and resources from children’s individual plans.
- Support children within the classroom setting, ensuring they can access learning and achieve their potential in an inclusive environment.
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience supporting children with SEND, in a classroom or small group setting.
- A patient person to be able to speak to children calmly and support their needs.
- To contribute to the nurturing environment within the school.
- To positively support children to make progress academically, socially, and emotionally.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
